IP Media Server Webinar Now Available

By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor

Each of you has a number of communications you use on a daily basis – from smart phones and IP faxes to VoIP video conferencing.

And these applications’ IP packets have a common need for processing before information reaches the end user.

Enter the IP media server, which provides a shared media processing platform for real-time or on-demand media, recording multimedia messages or mixing audio and video streams into conferences.

Want to learn more? Head to TMCnet’s archives and check out the recently recorded webinar, “The IP Media Server: A Buyer’s Guide,” hosted by Ray Adensamer, a senior product marketing manager at RadiSys (News - Alert).

RadiSys is a provider of IP media processing products and technologies for VoIP and IMS networks.

During the one-hour webinar, Adensamer covered a lot of ground, kicking off with an overview of what, exactly, is an IP media server. The webinar also covered the “10 probing questions to ask your vendor” before you buy one, plus the benefits of NGN and packet-based architecture.

“Consider the broad range of services offered by a telecom services provider,” Adensamer said, as he kicked off the Jan. 26 webinar. “What do all these voice over IP and IMS services have in common?”

The answer, according to Adensamer, is that they all share the underlying need for IP-based voice, video, speech fax and video processing.

“An IP media server is not a traditional media server for storing Web elements. Rather, it’s a common, shared resource,” Adensamer said. “It’s a server because its role in the network is to respond to IP media processing requests.”

Whether you’re a network operator interested in rolling out cost-effective IP communications networks, or a telecom equipment manufacturer interested in developing personalized, interactive audio and video telephony services, you’ll most definitely benefit from Adensamer’s perspective.

The IP Media Server webinar is available via TMCnet’s archives.
