Fax Technology for the Future

By Cindy Waxer, Contributing Editor

Just when you thought your fax machine was fast-becoming a relic, FaxBack Inc. has announced NET SatisFAXtion IP, a fax server that brings real-time, T.38 boardless fax to VOIP environments. With no fax hardware required, NET SatisFAXtion allows companies to seamlessly integrate FAX messaging into their IP-based environments.

"Communications are at the heart of every business – regardless of any given organization’s size or specialty. NET SatisFAXtion IP represents the coming together of two technologies – Voice over IP (VOIP) and FAX, a communications’ bedrock," says Art King, president of FaxBack.

MCPc, an Ohio-based value-added reseller and direct marketer of technology products and services, has agreed to work with FaxBack to help accelerate the adoption of fax in converged IP environments.

Among NET SatisFAXtion IP's key benefits is that the solution lowers total costs of ownership for growing businesses. Analog phone lines, fax boards, toner, paper and hardware maintenance are no longer required as NET SatisFAXtion IP is free of dedicated hardware. Furthermore, NET SatisFAXtion can be combined with VOIP encryption to ensure secure, virus-free transmission across VOIP networks with auditable records of all transmitted documents – a crucial feature given the regulatory demands spawned by HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and Gramm-Leach-Bliley.

Offering companies a fax over IP solution has proved profitable to FaxBack. Recently, the company announced record-setting revenue for its fiscal year 2004. FaxBack's sales grew 25 percent from the previous year's fourth quarter results. In addition, the company's NET SatisFAXtion tower and rackmount system sales more than doubled in 2004 over 2003 numbers.
