By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor

Globalization of the workforce has allowed employees to be located in different parts of the world and made it possible to be 'on the go' while still working. To remain productive and efficient, advancements in technology, and especially mobile communications, allow dispersed members of the workforce to collaborate and enhance productivity and morale.

Technology that allows for collaboration, like those occurring over IP, make it easy for people to connect and share information. This also helps build morale by strengthening trust amongst colleagues and encouraging idea-sharing.

A news release notes that, "The key benefit that companies need to focus on in a successful IT spends is improved collaboration. The right types of technology can link people seamlessly, enhance collaboration, and spur innovation and enhanced company morale."

A recent study sponsored by Cambridge Judge Business School and Nokia (News - Alert) surveyed 400 US/UK business leaders on the use of technology in the workforce to encourage collaboration and boost morale. The study revealed that to achieve a successful and productive workplace in today's, new, global and mobile work environment, technology and collaboration are key.

Giving workers the tools and technology to allow them to share information helps them to feel more productive and empowered-- boosting their, and the team's morale--a necessary element in a successful workforce.

Some of the specific findings from the report, outlined in a recent news release include:

-86% say that interactions between themselves and others helps spark new ideas

-82% say that people in other work locations support them in their work

-75% say that when they need additional help they get the best person to help wherever they are
