As the threat of the Avian Influenza Pandemic potentially reaching humans at a rapid rate continues to raise health-related concerns around the world, business leaders must also consider the potential effect this pandemic will have on their operations. If a pandemic does occur, large numbers of people may not be able to get to work, so preparing today is necessary.
To address this need, Interwise, provider of IP Conferencing and Collaboration solutions, is sponsoring a free, live, interactive web cast on June 8 that will review the potential business threats of the Avian Influenza Pandemic. The webcast, offered in two sessions, will be an hour long discussion and will also offer business and IT leaders preparation and planning tips.
Commenting on the need to prepare now for this potential threat, Gartner Vice President and Research Fellow Ken McGee said in a statement to the press, "It's shocking to see how ill-prepared businesses are for the pandemic." "Without adequate planning today, businesses are putting themselves at great risk."
McGee will also lead a discussion during the webcast-- providing realistic scenarios and explaining why conventional business continuity plans will not be effective.
To help leaders better understand the need, a recent news release highlighted the following questions:
-Can employees work remotely for days or weeks if needed?
-Do key executives have emergency communications backup?
-How will disruptions to supply chain, customer support or partner interactions be handled?
-Is impact of offshore vendors accounted for?
