GL Communications (News - Alert), a provider of professional telecom engineering and IT consulting services, has introduced its enhanced Protocol Simulation and Conformance Test Tool—referred to as the Message Automation & Protocol Simulation (MAPS) platform. This platform has been designed to work on TDM interfaces as well as on the Ethernet interfaces.

In a statement, Karthik Ramalingam, GL’s manager of product development, explained, "GL's Message Automation & Protocol Simulation (MAPS) is a protocol simulation and conformance test tool that supports a variety of Wireless, IP, and TDM protocols such as SIP, MEGACO, MGCP, SS7, ISDN, GSM, MAP, CAS, LTE (News - Alert), UMTS, SS7 SIGTRAN, ISDN SIGTRAN, SIP I, GSM AoIP, Diameter and many others. MAPS™ tool covers solutions for both protocol simulation and protocol analysis.”

Test result features such as Total Number of Calls Placed, No Failed Calls, No Passed Calls, CPS, and Memory Utilized are accessible to scripts and are sent to the company’s database so that they can be accessed via Web interface from anywhere.

Ramalingam added, "MAPS platform has been enhanced to run as a true 64-bit application (this support covers IP, 2G, 3G and 4G protocols and excludes TDM protocols for now). The solution helps users to automate the testing process easily and the Load Generation, Call Generation and Call Reception at a specific start time.”

The user can generate and log customized reports directly from within the scripts for Error Events, Captured Errors, Call flow in PDF Format. It supports call control scripting that allows controlling multiple protocols independently, and makes multi-interface simulation easy.

Scripts are enhanced to detect MTP and SCTP link status. Signaling profiles have been updated with an Enable Traffic option, which allows the user to select specific traffic profiles like IVR, User-defined, Auto-Traffic File, and Auto-Traffic for better control.
