Telecommunications service providers have, by now, learned that IP communication is a very important part of the overall picture, as the industry forges ahead and new demands are placed on IP networks to support advanced communication features. International Carrier Sales & Solutions (News - Alert) (ICSS), for instance, is a major global carrier that seeks to innovate IP-based solutions for its clients. ICSS, which is the international wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert) AG, provides solutions for DT Group and its international affiliates, as well as more than 700 external customers worldwide.
As the company itself has stated, the integration of IP networks is an essential part of Deutsche Telekom’s overall business strategy. And while ICSS places a great amount of its focus on providing technologies for Europe, it appears the company is expanding—and enhancing—its global reach by launching a new point of presence (PoP) in New York. PoPs are essentially access points to the Internet, making IP communications services readily available to users. The ICSS believes that its New York IP PoP and new next-generation voice platform will help the company on its way to meet these IP innovation goals.
"With the New York PoP we can now offer our clients around the world higher voice call efficiency, quality and capability,” said Holger Magnussen, senior vice president of Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions. “This is once again proof of our commitment to help our customers grow by enabling cost-effective and reliable voice-interconnect services – no matter where they are."
New York PoP, having been strategically positioned on the U.S. East Coast, will provide worldwide connectivity to key partners in North and South America. The new gateway will help deliver faster and more reliable quality for intra-American termination and meet the high technological demands of the U.S. market today—especially since this market already runs on the IP network standard. And, as part of the core network, the New York PoP will additionally complete the ICSS’s Next Generation Voice international (NGVi) platform.
No matter the demands, when a business deal is about to be made, or an important decision hangs in the balance, companies expect to transmit their communications smoothly and without delay. Strong IP communications networks are a big part of this.
