The Internet of Things (IoT), machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, and bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives are being integrated into organizations to improve operational efficiency and increase productivity across many different industries. Connecting all these devices requires a network that is able to communicate effectively with all of the assets the organization has in place. It is therefore essential to have a flexible communication platform able to scale on demand while at the same time managing many different applications. The new Anybus CompactCom 40-series is especially designed for industrial Ethernet networks to provide automation devices with connectivity.

The CompactCom 40-series offers fast communications to EtherCAT, POWERLINK, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET and PROFIBUS with an embedded communication solution based on the Anybus NP40 network processor. It is available in chip, brick, and module form factors with an integrated generic Anybus interface (hardware/software), allowing it to be connected to provide instant connectivity to industrial networks.

The new generation of industrial Ethernet has a new architecture which demands more performance as networks get more specialized to accommodate many of the technologies being adopted to perform demanding applications.

One of the key benefits of the Anybus CompactCom 40-series is the flexibility it provides for multinetwork connectivity and high-performance automation industrial devices to any fieldbus or real-time industrial Ethernet connectivity. This includes servo drive systems, which require fast network cycles and synchronization capabilities in all types of industrial networks.

Anybus CompactCom is available in three different form factors delivering different levels of hardware integration to automation devices:

  • CompactCom Chip: A full network connectivity solution on a single chip for integration into the user´s PCB design
  • CompactCom Brick: Ideal for users who have limited space or want to add their own choice of network connectors
  • CompactCom Module: Complete and interchangeable communication modules that offer the fastest time to market

"With the Anybus CompactCom 40-series, we can offer a complete communication solution suitable for both general automation devices and high-performance applications. Users get the performance and accuracy they need for demanding applications, and the flexibility to adapt to different networks by simply downloading a new firmware,” said Leif Malmberg, Product Line Manager, Embedded, at HMS.
