OKI (News - Alert), a Tokyo-based provider of telecommunications technology, recently announced the launch of its new CenterStage NX3200 session border controller (SBC), offering 10Gbps compatibility and advanced packet transfer processing functions. It is the latest in the CenterStage NX series of carrier-grade communication servers designed to meet the requirements of next-generation networs.

In a release, Hidetoshi Saigou, senior VP and GM, Telecom Systems Business Division, OKI, said, “PSTN offers a highly reliable configuration, with high communication volumes and extreme quality and reliability. Achieving levels of quality or reliability comparable to previous SBCs proved extremely difficult, due to the difficulty of processing large-volume sessions while maintaining voice quality using the conventional routers and switches that form the basis for most SBC products. Handling increased volumes also introduced issues of increased initial and running costs.”

The NX3200 allows up to 64,000 simultaneous connected connections per unit and is designed to minimize transfer delays to 20 µsec for concurrent telecommunications connections at maximum data volumes. It enables bandwidth control, low-delay, high-speed transmission performance, and IPv4/IPv6 conversion functionality. It also offers large scale session controls on par with triple play technologies, flexibility to accommodate future functionalities, and secure connections between carriers.

Built on a pre-existing 1Gbps interface, the NX3200 consists of an additional 10Gbps physical interface, in order to meet the need for growing volumes of data and voice communications services, all without compromising reliability and quality. It is designed to enable seamless connections between a wide range of carriers, offers PSTN-comparable reliability, and quality at a low cost.
