Over the last few years, standalone alarm systems have proven to be more reliable than PC-based alarm systems. As a result, many companies are opting for this mode of alarm systems in mission critical applications.

RACO Manufacturing and Engineering has announced that the company is now supporting two new protocols, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP. This support ensures seamless interface with PLCs and other devices for Verbatim Gateway (News - Alert) remote monitoring and reporting systems.

Featuring PLC interface, Verbatim Gateway boasts of a full-featured automatic dialing remote monitoring system. This PLC interface will have the inputs and outputs of a Verbatim system, along with 96 external PLC registers for PLC monitoring. It provides the ability for the users to check PLC network status at any time. Additionally, it also provides them with the ability to change alarm criteria and monitoring points.

RACO has a long line of remote communication products and EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP protocols are the latest in that lineup. The Verbatim Gateway system now becomes more versatile with these optional protocols.

Verbatim Gateway is an alarm monitoring and reporting solution that can operate in mission critical applications without the need for a PC. It provides remote read/write access to PLC data registers. It also offers I/O points with the help of any standard touch-tone phone. It also offers real-time, two-way communication with the help of phone, cell phone or numeric pager.

“We launched these new protocols at the WEFTEC 2013 show last month, and the response was great," said James Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for RACO. "The enhanced interfacing capabilities of EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP are just two more ways we're showing our commitment to reliable, effective remote communications.”

Recently, the company announced that its AlarmAgent.com provides real-time reporting and enables users to access the status of all channels in real time. Other features include one-of-a-kind RTU health report and sowing signal strength, power and battery status.
