To provide customers with an alternative integrated solution, iDirect (News - Alert), Inc., THAICOM Public Company Limited and iDirect have formed an agreement to provide customers with a new platform, IPSTAR by integrating the best services from all companies. The new integrated solution will use iDirect’s ground system and THAICOM 4 broadband satellite.

iDirect, founded in 1994, is a company that develops satellite-based IP communications technology in more than 50 countries. The company has been looking to expand not only its customer base, but also its technology and has looked to THAICOM for help. THAICOM is a communications satellite company that works out of Thailand and operates satellite fleets and other telecommunication businesses. According to both companies, this partnership seemed obvious.

“The partnership agreement with iDirect today is part of our Open Access Platform strategy that was announced late last year. This strategy provides our customers with more flexibility in utilizing our THAICOM 4 broadband satellite depending on their specific needs and requirements,” said Suphajee Suthumpun, chairman of the Executive Committee & CEO, THAICOM.

Mary Cotton, CEO of iDirect, agreed, saying she could not be more pleased with the new arraignment between the companies. “iDirect is proud to have the opportunity to work with THAICOM, whose reputation for innovation mirrors our own commitment to developing best-in-class technology. By aligning our strengths, while minimizing their risk and investment,” said Cotton. “Through this partnership agreement, we have taken yet another step toward achieving our shared vision of making satellite connectivity more accessible and easy-to-use for any application.”

In a recent release, the companies said this new platform would offer multiple enhancements for its clients. “THAICOM’s IPStar Open Access Platform strategy allows satellite technology equipment vendors to access the THAICOM 4 broadband satellite to provide customers with flexibility in choosing the most appropriate solution for their specific requirements. With this partnership agreement, THAICOM will be able to offer a complete turnkey solution based on the iDirect platform to specific markets across Asia Pacific.”
