Encore Networks (News - Alert), developer of security applications, converged signaling and broadband voice and data solutions, announced this week that WorldPay has certified the company’s new wireless technology for ATMs. Encore Networks specializes in solutions for both fixed and wireless communications and its newest solution is geared toward automated teller machines using their C2C router. Once WorldPay finished its initial testing of the new router, they announced that the router would be used for its wireless transactions across the globe.

WorldPay says that the new C2C router will be available to all of the company’s clients. For those not quite sure whether they need to upgrade their wireless router for their ATM needs, the new Encore Networks C2C router will be made available for demonstration at the WorldPay ATM Distributor Conference, taking place near the end of September.

The low-cost, embedded, cellular replacement C2C router replaces those ATMs that are currently using what is called the POTs (Plain Old Telephone services). This upgrade allows old legacy ATMs to move from dial-up to IP-based telephony services. That means that the ATMs now have the same kind of connection speeds as cellular phones that use a 3G network. The speed is just one of the benefits of this change. Saving money and reliability also become a major factor when using the Encore C2C router.

Certifying Encore's C2C further enhances the suite of best-in-class tools available to our ATM ISO partners," Michael Cowart, WorldPay vice president of ATM and ISO said in a recent press release. "The additional security the C2C provides ATMs using dial and IP users is something we believe will add tremendous value."

Encore touts its C2C router as the best around thanks in large part to the flexibility in provisioning choices this gives ATM owners. These routers have both AC/DC power plugins and an additional hookup, the Power Failure Alert system gives users a remote site power failure alert for extra security.
