D2 Technologies (News - Alert), a provider of embedded IP Communications software platforms, in partnership with 4G chipmaker Sequans Communications, announced the launch of a 4G Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) solution by combining its mobile communications client with Sequans chipset solution.

The mCUE from D2 is a converged 4G mobile communications client for VoLTE and RCS video calling applications. It is paired with the 4G LTE (News - Alert) chipset from Sequans, allowing OEMs, ODMs and carriers to deliver advanced supplementary services such as video calling/sharing, instant messaging, whiteboarding, location sharing, network address book, multiple device support and more.

"Sequans is growing its product line to match the growing adoption rate for LTE around the globe," said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO, in a statement. "By working with D2 Technologies to pair our LTE solutions with mCUE, we can help our customers accelerate time-to-market for a variety of VoLTE optimized devices that offer rock-solid reliability and a lower implementation cost."

Both companies have been active in the commercialization of LTE. Recently D2's mCUE and its underlying vPort embedded IMS VoIP software platform successfully completed the VoLTE Interoperability Testing Event in Beijing, China and Dusseldorf, Germany.

Sequans, on the other hand, launched three new LTE baseband chips and a companion RF chip supporting all global FDD and TDD LTE networks. The chipset was designed for a wide variety of handsets and mobile broadband devices. The company is also participating in China Mobile's large scale TD-LTE trial network in Shenzhen, China.

"Through interoperability testing and trials, we've proven that VoLTE is ready for deployment in 4G mobile networks," said Doug Makishima (News - Alert), chief operating officer for D2, in a statement. "LTE's high bandwidth, low latency and advanced QoS capabilities are ideal for delivering IMS rich IP communication services such as HD voice and video calls.”

“By partnering with Sequans, one of the world leaders in developing chipsets for LTE and WiMAX (News - Alert), we are offering OEMs and carriers one of the first turnkey solutions that enables them to economically create new devices that take advantage of these benefits," Makishima added.

Recently D2 Technologies also enhanced its mCUE mobile unified communications client. mCUE is interoperable with leading IMS cores and delivers carrier-grade quality and multi-protocol support for 4G IMS/RCS/VoLTE, SIP, VCC, Skype (News - Alert) and popular social networks and enterprise UC/IPPBX systems.
