In my younger years, I had a coach that would always say, “Go out there, and set the tone!” as enthusiastically as a middle-aged man in a leather jacket and workout shorts could do so. Pardon my anecdote, but the reason I make the reference is this, in life we set the bar. In business we set the bar. By doing, we set the tone. It’s about sending a message, and in a space garnering eyeballs at an exponential rate, it seems all messages are heard loud and clear.

Speaking of setting the tone, NTT Communications (News - Alert) Corporation unveiled a SD-WAN deployment project spanning 1,000 offices and 40 countries. The NTT SD-WAN solution will be sequentially rolled out to each Hitachi (News - Alert) office around the world, making it the largest-scale solutions delivered in Japan.

The project “broke ground” earlier this week, and one of the starring components in the show is Master’s ONE CloudWAN provided by NTTPC Communications. Leveraging SD-WAN, which is capable of controlling network environments and ensuring MPLS and Internet connections are performing as expected, the deployment offers Hitachi enhanced agility, strengthened security and optimized network bandwidth.

In addition, Hitachi and NTT will work together moving forward to deploy NFV technologies to manage cloud-based components.

Motoaki Satoyama, General Manager, United IT Platform Office, IT Services Division of Hitachi, Ltd. explained, “Flexibility and agility are crucial for the Hitachi’s network because we operate a broad range of business spanning more than 850 group companies in about 70 countries and regions. In seeking a partner that could work with us to meet the challenge of strengthening our large-scale network infrastructure, we decided that NTT Com has the right mindset to grasp future trends and challenge new things. Another key was NTT Com’s capability to realize changes that we had envisioned.”

SD-WAN is sprawling, with innovation taking us into the cloud era. While records are certainly made to be broken, it certainly appears NTT has set the tone.
