Munters has selected Silver Peak (News - Alert)'s Unity EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution to lower costs, deliver better application experience and meet application service level agreements (SLAs).

The move to SD-WAN by Munters was, according to Silver Peak, based on the company's desire to adopt a more economical broadband connectivity and lower its reliance on MPLS without giving up any application or network performance. With EdgeConnect, it will be able to leverage the application segmentation capabilities of the platform with consistence performance over broadband, while addressing its strategic requirements and operations of the business.

The Silver Peak platform was chosen because it is going to allow Munters to logically segment its application mix into business intent overlays and maintain class-of-service SLAs across its application mix in alignment with the strategic requirements of its business.

Josh Currier, Americas network manager, group IT at Munters, said the company was looking to shift to consumer broadband connectivity so it could have more control over its network, and the testing it performed proved to be right. He went on to say, "During our testing of Silver Peak EdgeConnect, we were impressed by the resiliency of the solution and its ability to bond broadband links together and apply path conditioning to achieve overlay performance superior to the performance of each individual underlay." Munters concluded it could make the transition to broadband without sacrificing the performance of its applications or the productivity of its business.

The Silver Peak EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution has, according to Munters, better performance, reliability, advanced software capabilities, and it is easy to deploy and manage. The application segmentation feature with business intent overlays will let Munters' IT teams segment its application mix based on the unique characteristics and requirements of each application type.

Silver Peak announced, to date, Munters has configured five business intent overlays. They are real-time voice and video applications, optimized internal traffic, non-optimized internal traffic, best effort applications and low priority.
