The Land of the Rising Sun possesses a far different culture than what we know in the United States; however, when it comes to technology, both nations are speaking the same language. The cloud and software-defined networking have permeated presence around the globe, with much room to grow. The key reason for this explosive growth is today’s network demands. Approaches of yesteryear, like MPLS, are simply not equipped to meet modern requirements.

Network operations are complex, there’s no two ways about it. But, SD-WAN can serve you well in overcoming the networking challenges of today’s applications. Today, Japan’s NTTPC Communications became the first managed cloud network service provider utilizing Viptela SD-WAN.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership with NTTPC and help them roll out SD-WAN in Japan,” said Pepe Garcia, GM of Viptela, Japan & LATAM. “NTTPC joins a growing list of leading national and international carriers that have chosen Viptela to deliver managed SD-WAN services.”

In offering the Viptela SD-WAN solution, NTTCP is instantly able to meet the demand for scalable, flexible and secure WAN. The managed cloud network service called Master’sONE will leverage the Viptela SD-WAN solution to provide end –to-end segmentation, application aware SLA, QoS policies and more from remote offices, virtual resources and data centers.

NTTPC can control, create and enforce network policies from a central location, and in doing so ensure that mobile, voice, video and data performance levels meet expectations.

Across the globe, back in the U.S., 2016 served as a year for SD-WAN adoption into the mainstream. Carriers, one by one selected solutions to ensure portfolios were prepared to meet the network challenges of today. There is no clear champion of the space, but be sure to keep your ear to the ground. This once small space started with a mere handful of players, and is expected to reach a valuation in the billions in the coming years.

End-to-end, SD-WAN promises improved management and performance. Are you ready for the era of SD-WAN?
