Modulis, a Montreal-based company that specializes in VoIP and hosted phone services, has made a couple of moves it hopes will make it that much more of a leader in the industry. The firm has announced it has acquired Alecie and the VoIP division of DCI Consultants. The acquisitions will certainly strengthen Modulis’ standing in Canada as both companies are considered key players in the Montreal area.
The acquisitions of the two companies are hardly the first the VoIP services company has made as it continues to strengthen itself in the marketplace. Modulis is hoping the newest moves will making it that much stronger specifically in the IP telephony market for businesses, institutions and government agencies.
As IP telephony only continues to get more popular, companies like Modulis are looking to get in as close to the ground floor as possible. The company believes that merging Alecie with its own services will mean Modulis is able to serve more than a hundred additional business clients in the region.
“This new partnership between Alécie and Modulis will improve the quality and efficiency of the services and support provided by a specialized IP telephony team. I am convinced that this alliance will bring about a marked increase in client satisfaction,” Sébastien Jean, President of Alécie, said in a recent statement announcing the moves.
Modulis also says it has picked up about 11,000 more users thanks to its absorption of a branch of DCI Consultants. These users are now being connected to the Asterisk (News - Alert) based infrastructure that Modulis leans on. That operating system means the company is using one of the most advanced and state of the art technology and services.
Modulis is certainly not a newbie when it comes to the IP telephony market. The company has been around for more than 10 years now and has managed to survive thanks in large part to focusing on innovation.
