In the communications space, integration is vital. The multi-, excuse me, omni-channel world we live in now requires enterprises to leverage communications technology to hilt to ensure best practice. My Business Voice offer unified communications via the cloud, allowing team members to stay connected wherever they are located and provide them with a means to deliver exemplary services. IP communications like hosted PBX and VoIP give businesses the pieces to the puzzle, the enterprise must choose to put them together.


The My Business Voice recently announced it is augmenting productivity by allowing VoiP calling through a Click-to-Dial function from Outlook. By integrating this functionality is streamlines an employee’s process.

Allow me to give explain, your phone and email will be connected via a Telephony application programming interface (TAPI). When viewing contacts, a simple click of the mouse and the phone is ringing.

Leigh Schmid, director at My Business Voice  other capabilities of the integration, “If customers ring you and they are in your contacts list then it will pop up on your screen telling you who is calling you. It identifies the caller ID and displays the caller’s name, so you know who the person is before you’ve answered the phone.”

Schmid also describes the ease at which tasks like transferring calls, identifying what staff members are on the phone, access voice and more, through the use of My Business Voice’s desktop integration applications.

The Aussie-based provider chose Outlook as its initial integration due to its prevalence in use. As Schmid illustrates, “We work closely with our main business partner, a Microsoft (News - Alert) Certified Partner.  A lot of our customers use SBS (Microsoft Small Business Server), meaning that the great majority of our customers use Outlook.”

This one of the many innovations occurring in the communications space; as projections for the VoIP market go through the roof—to be worth nearly $140 billion, and have almost 350 million subscribers by 2020—I would expect innovations like  this to come fast and furious. The ubiquitous nature of using a hosted PBX (News - Alert) or unified communications solution in the enterprise is driving this market to ‘be all it can be,’ now it’s just time to see what beat it will be marching to and where enterprise communications are headed.
