REVE Makes Instant Messaging Even Easier for VoIP Callers Who Use Mobile

Text messaging is nice, but sometimes you want a more back-and-forth experience and the ability to send longer thoughts in a single message. It also is good to use emoticons sometimes, a feature that text messaging basically lacks.

For these reasons and others, people use chat. And for these reasons and more, REVE Systems has begun offering chat functionality to any service provider relying on its enterprise-grade iTel Switch Plus softswitch.

REVE recently announced that its iTel Mobile Dialer Express now offers instant messaging functionality. The iTel Mobile Dialer Express app allows users to make VoIP calls from mobile phones. The mobile application has been designed to keep VoIP service provider requirements in mind, and enable them to offer their customers an easy way to make Internet-based calling from basically any phone.


Now REVE has added instant messaging functionality to its offering, and this gives service providers even more value-add for customers.

Users can chat with each other even if they are on different platforms, and without having to download additional apps. Anyone with an Android (News - Alert), iOS or Windows 7 or 8 device can utilize the chat functionality, although service providers will need to be running REVE’s iTel Switch Plus softswitch to make it work.

The instant messenger functionality includes all the important elements that customers expect from chat, but with the ease of use that comes from text messaging. These features include peer-to-peer texting and chatting, presence functionality that lets users set a status message, the ability to send an instant message or text message when the person they are trying to reach is unavailable, integration with mobile address book—and emoticons.

The inclusion of instant message functionality in REVE’s iTel Mobile Dialer Express app makes the product all the stronger, and it helps service providers better capture and retain customers.

There are many chat options on the market, of course, but in making the chat functionality integrated into the normal calling systems already being employed by users, REVE has made chat as easy as text messaging.

With emoticons and the ability to send messages longer than 160 characters, it actually could be said that REVE has made it easier than texting.
