Want Easy Mobile VoIP? Pick Auto Provisioning from REVE Systems

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The mobile employee has long relied on his ability to meet with clients face to face in an effort to respond to requests, close the deal or simply nurture the relationship. Traditionally speaking, this means the professional was often disconnected from the office when on the road. The proliferation of the mobile phone helped change the landscape, but the support of mobile VoIP changes the game.

Mobile VoIP allows for the natural extension of the business communications structure to provide the necessary support for the professionals on the go. For the business that already offers VoIP as its primary means of staying connected across the converged network, extending this capability, the features and the cost savings through VoIP only makes sense.

Extending this capability to clients and businesses throughout the global marketplace, REVE Systems is responding to growing demand. At the same time, the company is developing solutions that answer the challenges mobile users experience on a regular basis. Its latest, auto provisioning allows the user to turn their mobile number into their personal identification number, eliminating the need to memorize something new.

At first glance, it seems as though using such an obvious number for the PIN would put the user at risk. Dig a little deeper, however, and you’ll see that what REVE Systems actually does is connect that PIN number to the mobile number so it is secure. Try using that number from a device that isn’t registered under that number and no connection is made.

Auto provisioning also eases the sign in process, allowing the user to authenticate through a sent password through SMS access or a call placed through an interactive voice response (IVR) connection. Once this step is complete, the user is able to create a Buddy List by adding contacts who are already using the mobile VoIP application. Buddy List members are taken directly from the phone book and instant messaging is then easy to launch and use.

Finally, for that mobile professional who is using his own phone but wants to still give the “in the office” feel to his communications, the CLI display for Caller ID allows the corporate number to serve as the user number on the display. The personal number need never appear for the person on the other end of the line, protecting the consistency of the brand and allowing the mobile user separation between work and life.

If you’re one who doesn’t like to keep track of PIN numbers, wants easy setup and integration of your mobile apps and want to use your own device for professional use, auto provisioning from REVE Systems is worth investigation. If you use VoIP and mobile – it’s a great time to merge the two.
