What Mobile Demand is Doing to the Industry

The opportunity to send your calls over the public Internet may not excite you, unless you compare the cost of doing so. The standard fees associated with the traditional landline typically don’t exist with the VoIP line – you pay one fee for one connection and nothing else. For the small business, a similar logic applies, although your cost will be higher to support the added people and functionality.

Still, companies are adopting VoIP and the hosted softswitch to support a reduction in the cost of staying connected. As more companies are doing business nationally and internationally, staying connected through high quality solutions at a low cost has become essential. With the rise in mobility, however, the trend in communications is taking another shift towards mobile VoIP.

This service is so popular that demand continues to grow. One recent report, Global Mobile Broadband – Insights and Statistics for a Game Changing Industry, shows that infrastructure improvements have driven the uptake of broadband and mobility throughout the world. In the global telecoms sector, mobile broadband is the fastest growing area overall.

While this growth is significant, it also points to a challenge – 3G networks can’t handle the data traffic jams as they were never designed to handle this rapid increase in traffic. The development of 4G/LTE (News - Alert) networks will help ease the issue for the short term, supporting the deployment of a staggering number of applications and services for the smartphone market.

In fact, the growth in the industry is so significant that there is no current long-term plan to support the direction of the market. It is projecting that the current activity in developed markets will eat up the current spectrum allocations for LTE in as little as three years and as much as five. Some believe tying all technology together is the answer, yet others worry about the quality it will produce.

Such an outlook has some placing more interest in the VoLTE market. Will it match the value of the hosted softswitch for the corporate user? It may depend on how companies like REVE Systems respond to the massive growth in the industry. A key focus for this provide is to stay abreast of the latest developments to ensure a competitive advantage, but the challenges facing the market may be more than just one company can contain.

Still, this is why companies like REVE Systems stay focused on what’s happening in the market at large. They support service providers labeling their hosted softswitch and extending it to the client base. These providers don’t want to have to worry about the infrastructure or the technology – they simply want to serve the customer. REVE Systems makes that possible, all while keeping a pulse on the industry at large so they can continue to extend quality services at a competitive price.
