Update to iTel Mobile Dialer for iOS Helps Operators Stay Ahead

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Contributor

For mobile operators, over-the-top (OTT) services such as Skype (News - Alert), Line and WhatsApp are eating into profits by piggybacking on mobile data networks and delivering calls, SMS and chat without going through the mobile operator’s services.

One way that operators can fight back is with OTT services themselves. One company that helps make that happen is REVE Systems. They offer a white label mobile dialer called iTel Mobile Dialer.

The iTel Mobile Dialer enables mobile operators to offer VoIP calls & SMSs over Wi-Fi, 3G / 4G, EDGE or UMTS. It has easy sign-up, automatic buddy list creation and the ability to invite contacts in the phone’s address book to start using the software.

What it also delivers, however, is the ability to offer cross-platform instant messaging, which enables smartphone users to chat even if they are on a different platform.

Further, it has the innovative features of mobile top-up and easy calling card usage, functionality that plays particularly well with developing countries and those who have moved away from developing countries but still keep in contact with loved ones there.

REVE offers iTel Mobile Dialer on many different platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry and even Symbian (News - Alert).

The company recently updates its iOS app to support Apple’s (News - Alert) move to iOS 7.

The latest version of the software for iOS, version 3.0.1, delivers improved network quality visualization and comes with added stability.

The app also got an overhaul in October with the release of version 3.

The new version of the app debuted with a new look that fits with the iOS 7 design. It sports a clean interface that, unlike some unified communications apps, fits nicely with the iOS look and feel. It comes across as an alternate dialer that doesn’t compromise on Apple integration like some dialers.

In terms of functionality, version 3 also brought tighter integration with VoIP calls and SMS, cross-platform instant messaging, mobile number-based sign on, automated calling card usage and mobile top up. Users can navigate to a screen on the app where each communications feature of the app is easily accessible. This makes the dialer even easier to use.

With OTT spreading like wildfire, operators need a way to combat the trend and keep customers at least within their own services. REVE Systems and its iTel Mobile Dialer help make that happen.
