There are many IP softswitches on the market, but not all are created equal. REVE Systems has developed a particularly full-featured softswitch offering – one that brings with it a number of original features.

The REVE offering, known as the iTel Switch Plus, is a carrier-grade softswitch that includes an integrated billing solution and Interactive Voice response (IVR) system. It is built with both retail and wholesale in mind, with multi-level reseller support, easy end-user interface, integrated billing, reporting and monitoring tools, enhanced multi-tier security architecture, and supporting multi-modal origination devices and termination options.

A multi-layered security access control is one nice function of the softswitch, protected by an IP and password-based authentication that restricts any kind of unauthorized IP access. But it also has the secondary protection of preventing against unauthorized PIN use by employing IMEI-based authentication.

Further, it has secured routing through multi-parameter routing systems.

Speed, one of the basics from which softswitches should be judged, is also exceptional with the iTel Switch Plus. Because of REVE’s proprietary technology, the company claims its softswitch is the fastest in the world.

Budget-conscious consumers will like more than just the speed that comes with operators who use the REVE softswitch. The iTel Switch Plus supports callback services, allowing operators to offer callback or calling card services to their customers.

It supports ANI callback at present, but the company says it will soon be adding SMS callback as well.

The iTel Switch Plus makes it possible for consumers to transfer balances from their account to any other friend or relative under the same reseller. It is a user-friendly service that doesn’t require the reseller, both adding functionality and keeping reseller life simple.

Users can transfer all or some of their balance to other users using a PIN.

Just as well, the iTel Switch Plus goes beyond most softswitches by offering a single PIN for all call origination devices. This means only one PIN for recharge, mobile top-up and voice calling. The user doesn’t need to fuss with multiple PINs – a time-saver potentially for both the user and the reseller.

The REVE iTel Switch Plus also makes reselling easy. It comes with “N” level of VoIP resellers at any level, providing total flexibility to create an unlimited number of different reseller accounts with different access rights and roles.

A reseller can create unlimited levels under him or her, making this softswitch extremely flexible.

The piece allows international mobile top-up as well. Service providers now can recharge any mobile number from any location using the same PIN which can be used for other call origination devices (PC2Phone, Mobile Dialer, Callback Dialer, etc).

Another handy feature for resellers is NGN, REVE’s next-generation billing feature that intelligently prevents user account balance from going negative. With most softswitches, when the main account balance is finished but the call traffic is still live, a negative balance is created on the softswitch. But with iTel Switch Plus, the account balance is checked before the call and the caller is only allowed to continue as long as some of his/her balance remains.

The softswitch has other features, too, such as PIN-to-PIN calling, integration with REVE’s proprietary tunneling service that can bypass firewalls, iTel Byte Saver, and support for the Bangla language in addition to English.

It comes in two flavors: iTel Switch Plus Gold, which supports 800-1000 concurrent calls, and iTel Switch Plus Pro, which supports more than 20,000 concurrent calls.
