OpenTech Alliance Inc., a Phoenix-based company whose primary focus is technology aimed at the self-storage industry, is looking to bring new expertise to the table in an effort to redesign its call-center services. The company has announced a new consultancy relationship with Carol Krendl, the current CEO of SkilCheck Services Inc., which is an employee-evaluation firm specializing in self-storage service employees.

OpenTech has found success in self-service kiosks for its self-storage center clients. Aside from the kiosks, OpenTech also deals in software for self-storage call centers. Among these products is the software “INSOMNIAC LiveAgent!”

Krendl is coming on as a consultant in an effort to advance the training curriculum, and to grow and develop the LiveAgent! product. Krendl said of the project, "SkilCheck will provide strategic planning and leadership training to call-center management and customized computer-based training courses for their internal team of storage counselors to develop a sharper and more competitive process to sell and service self-storage customers.”

"We are excited to have Carol contributing to our education and training process,” said Robert Chiti, CEO of OpenTech. “The addition will greatly improve the skill set of our storage counselors and provide our call-center clients with a level of knowledge and expertise that is not currently available in the industry.”

According to OpenTech’s Q1 2013 White Sheet, their services completed more than 260,000 transactions in 2012. In 2013 OpenTech reached its 10th anniversary: “Celebrating a decade of service to self storage, OpenTech provides solutions that connect storage owners with tenants, through the development of a complete line of automated Kiosks and Call Center services,” the company said in a release.

Along with bringing Krendl on in an effort to push its services to the next generation, OpenTech has hired Carrie Giordano, who has 10 years of experience in the call center industry. She has been brought on as OpenTech’s Manager of Recruiting, Training and Retention. Together with Krendl, the goal will be to effectively implement the new and changing training curriculum, and position OpenTech’s products ahead of the curve.
