Headset News Roundup from Sennheiser

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Sennheiser Communications, provider of telecommunications products for call center, office and personal use, made quite a few announcements today regarding their headset offerings. Here is a rundown:

Neckband Headsets-

Sennheiser announced today the inclusion of 2 new lightweight neckband headsets to their offering. These newly designed headsets are aimed at giving whose who use headsets for an extended period of time, a more comfortable experience.

Weighing only 13 grams, the headset is designed to feel as though there is not even one on and since it goes around the neck, hats and hairstyles do not interfere.

The SH33 headset is intended for everyday office users and features a built in noise canceling microphone along with Sennheiser's Active Guard technology to be sure noise disruptions don’t occur. Using the same technology, the CC513, filters out call center specific noise for a more pleasurable call experience.

Mechanical Handset Lifter -

To reduce the need to be near a base station to answer or hang up a call when wearing a wireless head set, Sennheiser announced today the inclusion of the HSL 10 to their product offering.

This mechanical handset lifter is a gadget, connected to a compatible base station that sends a command to lift or place the handset into the base when a user wants to answer or end a call. It is also capable of recognizing an incoming ring and will transfer a ring signal to the user's wireless headset to inform them of an incoming call.

Enhanced Mobile Quality-

For those in the business world who need a reliable and clear way of keeping in touch with people when they're on the go, Sennheiser announced a new MB series today.

This series features 4 new cable link headsets available in a variety of styles. The MB 10, MB 20, MB 30 and MB 40 include Sennhesier's Active Guard Technology and are designed to deliver high quality sound and speech—critical in business communications.

To prevent any loss in quality when adapters are used, special cable plugs are also offered for some phones and because they are cable linked, limited battery life is not a concern with these headsets.

Sennheiser also announced 3 new telecom headsets for mobile users today.  The MM 10, MM 30 and MM 50. These headsets promise to deliver exceptional sound for the most advanced of mobile phones.

The newest trend in mobile phones is the incorporation of MP3 players and stereos. Recognizing this, Sennheiser has created headsets that provide good a quality music experience with a microphone for calling capabilities.

All the models, avalibale in neckband and ear bud styles, feature a convenient push to talk button that makes it easy for users to quickly answer a phone call or use other functions as well.

Quality Web Telephony-

Sennhesier also announced today the inclusion of 2 new models of headsets for VoIP users, to be available in the spring of 2006.

According to their news release, the PC 25 USB and the PC 35 USB, are modeled off of last years VoIP headset offerings with an added USB port feature, digital volume control and a microphone mute switch with blue LED.

The PC 35 features dual earphones and the PC 25 USB is a one-sided headset for users who prefer to have one ear free. They also include easily adjustable headbands, and microphones to accommodate a variety of users and incorporate Active Guard technology to enhance the web telephony experience.

And finally, as an update to an announcement in early January that Skype (News - Alert) had certified Sennheiser headsets, Sennheiser announced today that Skype will soon be offering via their online store, the "Skype Certified Sennheiser Series".
