Sennheiser Supports International Noise Awareness Day

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Sennheiser is a company well known for offering headset solutions that meet the needs of today’s mobile workforce, music lover, or gaming fanatic. The headsets provide the sound clarity and comfort these users demand and offer protection for their hearing.

Especially for today’s heavy travelers, noise from loud speaker announcements, large crowds of people and roaring of engines, can make their way into everyday life and pose a threat since long term; continued exposure to noise can have a detrimental effect on our health and well-being.

To raise awareness that daily noise exposure can have a detrimental effect on our health and well-being, tomorrow, April 29, 2009, is “International Noise Awareness Day.”

Sennheiser wants travelers to know that there is a viable solution, and is supporting International Noise Awareness Day by reminding them that their Travel Line series of headphones include patented NoiseGard noise compensation technology that reduces noise by up to 90 percent.

“We are well aware of the stresses that travelers are exposed to when flying,” said Maurice Quarré, Product Manager Headphones. “Since 1980, Sennheiser has been developing special headphones for pilots in order to protect them against noise and stress in the cockpit. And for many years now, the experience we have gained in professional applications has been successfully applied to the development of our travel headphones.”

According to the company, their NoiseGard technology works by reducing any annoying or ambient noise and canceling it out using the same principle of anti-noise by physicist Paul Lueg in the early 1930s.

The company’s Travel Line of headphones includes six products with circumaural headphones with NoiseGard technology as well as miniature ear-canal phones with passive noise attenuation. This line includes the companies PXC 450 and PXC 350 headphones.

The design of the headphones, which include large, closed ear cups that enclose the ears or ear cups that fit securely against the ears as well as perfectly fitting ear-canal phones, offer protection against ambient noise. Also, with the latest version NoiseGard, version 2.0, ambient noise is reduced by 90 percent at the push of a button.
