Sennheiser Unveils True Wireless Stereo Earphones Using Kleer Technology

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Kleer has announced that audio specialist Sennheiser has introduced truly wireless stereo earphones based on Kleer’s wireless audio technology.

Sennheiser’s new MX W1 wireless earphones provide extremely high noise immunity in the crowded 2.4 GHz band environment and deliver crystal-clear CD-quality stereo sound.

With the earphones it is possible to receive wireless audio from any Kleer-based portable media player as all Kleer-based products are fully interoperable and two or more people can listen to the same audio stream at the same time provided that each of them has a set of MX W1 earphones.

Sennheiser believes that its new product will set a standard in wireless audio sound.

Featuring Sennheiser’s ‘twist-to-fit’ system, MX W1 is comprised of two sleek ear pieces (untethered right and left earphones). This provides secure and comfortable fit in each ear, along with a great sound. Sennheiser facilitates a compact, ergonomically pleasing industrial design demanded by consumers as it has 5x – 10x power advantage over Bluetooth.

When away from home, the earphones also come with a small, matchbox-sized transmitter and a transport case which includes an integrated battery.

Stijn Jans, Managing Director of Sennheiser Consumer Electronics, Singapore branch, said in a company press release, “Kleer’s digital radio transmission technology produces excellent sound quality which means that for the first time, we’re in a position to offer our customers wireless earphones without compromising our special Sennheiser sound. Kleer’s very low audio signal latency, coupled with extremely interference-free transmission also translates into considerably longer battery life than what you’d get with conventional transmission standards.”

The MX W1 will be available from May 2008. You can also see the product at the Sennheiser CES (News - Alert) booth #21235, Hall 1, as well as at the Kleer booth #71042, Sands Convention Center.
