There is nothing worse than being in an emergency situation and wondering if your loved ones have been notified. As 911 communications become more sophisticated, new features are being introduced to make it possible to have important people in your life alerted should an emergency occur.

Today, Ooma Inc., a provider of HD Voice quality home phone service, said it will make one of these new features available to all of its Ooma Premier customers.

According to company officials, the new 911 Notifications feature will allow subscribers to add contact info. for up to three e-mail or mobile users via the “My Ooma” online control panel.

During a home emergency situation, the specified recipients will be notified as soon as the caller dials 911 from their Ooma phone.

This latest move is a giant step forward in critical home safety features and adds to the Ooma Premier service line-up as well as, “demonstrates how our unique capabilities can be extended into home monitoring and other valuable services,” said Jim Gustke, Vice President of Marketing at Ooma.

“Whether your kids are home alone or with a babysitter, or you’re concerned about aging parents, our new 911 Notifications feature offers you the peace of mind that you’ll be on top of any situation,” Gustke said.

Earlier this year, the company made headlines when they partnered with Clarity (News - Alert), a provider of communications tools for boomers and seniors, to produce a phone that offers high voice quality by combining Clarity phones and the Ooma Telo.
