Sony Using ClearOne's HD Conference Technology in its PCS-XG80 HD Video Conferencing System

By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet

ClearOne (News - Alert), a provider a high definition (HD) conferencing solutions, has announced that Sony is now using ClearOne’s HDConference wideband audio technology with its HD video conferencing system, the PCS-XG80.

The new ClearOne/Sony HD VC solution is the result of a strategic partnership between ClearOne and Spire Global, the exclusive U.S. sales, marketing and support arm for Sony's IPELA line of IP-based video conferencing endpoints and accessory products.

The combination of ClearOne’s RAV 900 premium conferencing system, along with the ClearOne ClearPresence Dual Media Cart, the Sony PCS-XG80 HD video conferencing system and two Sony 46" LCD monitors, results in a fully-integrated video and audio conferencing solution. With this equipment, a business exec can transform any meeting room into a productive conferencing and collaboration space.

"Our customers have been asking for such a solution from us for quite some time,” said Joe Sorrentino, executive vice president of Worldwide Sales, ClearOne, in a release. “This partnership between ClearOne and Spire Global brings together best-of-breed products from both ClearOne and Sony. This solution will broaden our reach into the conferencing market."

Eric Murphy, vice president at Spire Global, said ClearOne's audio conferencing technology and Sony's video conferencing capabilities are a “natural fit.” He said with the combined solution, customers will be able to enjoy “a fully-integrated high definition conferencing and collaboration experience.”

Last week ClearOne introduced two new media carts which can be used for transforming an ordinary meeting room into a video conferencing center.

The Titan Articulating Dual Plasma Media Cart is a portable folding display that accommodates two 42" to 50" LCD or Plasma monitors. Part of the company’s Titan line, the cart includes a universal mounting system supporting up to 200 lbs. The two arms on the metal frame display fold so that it can fit through doorways and on elevators. The company claims this is the industry's first truly mobile dual plasma media cart.

Meanwhile the ClearPresence Dual Media Cart is designed to transform an existing meeting room into a productive conferencing and collaboration space. It, too, holds two 42" to 50" flat screen monitors, and offers a more “refined” design. The integrated rack system offers easy access to both the front and rear of the equipment, thus simplifying installation and configuration.

ClearOne will be exhibiting the new ClearOne/Sony HD VC solution, as well as the two new media carts and its other award-winning HD conferencing solutions, at InfoComm in Orlando, Florida, to be held this week (June 17-19).
