By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet
The move marks Sorrentino’s return to the company: Before joining Spire, he held the position of vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at ClearOne (News - Alert).
While at Spire Global, Sorrentino was responsible for building and managing the company’s U.S. sales team. He was also responsible for developing and executing Spire Global’s channel sales strategy and driving its market channel partner programs, as well as strategic partnerships.
A 25-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, Sorrentino also previously served as vice president of sales for Polycom's (News - Alert) voice communications division, where he was responsible for building Polycom's voice sales team, launching new products in the IP and installed conferencing space, as well as growing the company’s market share in the tabletop conferencing business. He has also held positions with IBM, Motorola (News - Alert), Conner/Seagate, Adaptec and 3ware.
In his previous role with ClearOne, Sorrentino was responsible for all sales and marketing operations worldwide. Not only did he assemble a world-class sales team and build programs that boosted revenue quarter-over-quarter, he was the driving force behind the sales and marketing strategy of ClearOne's MAXAttach product, which within two years catapulted the company to become the second largest provider of tabletop conferencing solutions worldwide.
“Joe’s return to ClearOne could not come at a more strategic time with the recent releases of our new products,” Hakimoglu said in a release. “His strong sales background and prior successes, coupled with his high energy and disciplined approach to selling is exactly what we need in this current economic environment.”
Sorrentino holds a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University.
ClearOne also recently announced availability of the Converge SR 1212A digital signal processing mixer. Designed for sound reinforcement applications (i.e. distributing high quality sound throughout a room or facility), the mixer sports a four channel power amplifier which interfaces with 8 ohm or 70v/100v loudspeaker systems. It is designed for use in courtrooms, council chambers, corporate and AV presentation rooms, and is useful for room combining, training/lectures, high quality paging and voice masking applications.
