HD Conference Provider ClearOne Acquires NetStreams for $2 Million
11/3/2009… ClearOne, a Utah-based HD conference manufacturing company, announced today it acquired NetStreams, Inc., a provider of high definition audio and video over TCP/IP networks for $2 million. Under the deal, ClearOne assumed about $2 million of NetStreams' long-term debt. In addition, ClearOne will also make earn out payments over the next two years based on certain performance criteria, company officials said.

And with the growing interest in technology such as HD Conference and VoIP, the concept of so-called "virtual meetings" is gaining ground. The Frost & Sullivan report, "Meetings Around the World II: Charting the Course of Advanced Collaboration," found that about 61 percent of organization said they see collaboration technologies as a way to reduce business travel. The study also found that more than half think using conferencing tools - such as an audio conferencing, Web conferencing or video conferencing - is a good alternative than in-person meetings.
HD Conference Tools Fuel Growth on UC Spend Among India SMBs
10/14/2009… Small and medium businesses in India are expected to ramp up their spending on unified communications this year, spending $48.8 million on UC, up over 2008, a new study by Access Markets International, or AMI Partners, Inc., found. According to the report, medium businesses, or firms with 100 to 999 employees, will account for more than 40 percent of the country's total SMB spend, while small businesses will increase their adoption of basic UC solutions.

According to Frost & Sullivan's "Asia-Pacific Video Conferencing Infrastructure Market" report, the market is expected to grow 11.4 percent this year, down from 15.7 percent in 2008, it said. The declining growth is the result of current economic conditions, as companies trim their business expenses.
