While Zoho has long been a sort of competitor with Google (News - Alert) Docs, the company has apparently taken the “if you can’t beat them, join them approach.” The firm recently announced that its applications are now available for download in the Google Apps marketplace experience. The approach to actually team up with Google, while also trying to better it is one that the computing giant itself has taken over the years. While Google and Apple are direct competitors, there are all kinds of applications, such as Gmail available in the iOS app store.
Zoho’s (News - Alert) offering its applications in the Google Apps Marketplace is just the latest step for a company trying to reach a broader market. Earlier this year, the company rolled out its Zoho Docs for Desktop that is basically the company’s version of Google Drive.
Zoho has also offered up new ways for users to sync across multiple devices as a way to reach more customers. Dropbox integration was introduced at the end of the summer as one of those ways to sync from any device. The move to the Google Marketplace was announced on the Zoho company blog and the company says that it is working closely with the Google team in the rollout.
The company says that most of its most popular solutions such as Zoho CRM, Zoho Projects and Zoho Invoice are going to be featured on the Google Apps Marketplace experience. Zoho is excited about having a presence on the marketplace experience because this landing spot makes it that much easier for business Admins to discover and install different applications.
This setup is especially geared towards businesses who want to be able to control what applications are available to what groups. Zoho says that by going through this marketplace, Admins will be able to handle the rollout of the business applications on a granular level.
