Cloud security software producer Dome9 (News - Alert) Security announced today that its newest product, Instant Access for Google (News - Alert) Chrome, is available for download for free from the Chrome Web Store as of now. The browser-based application enables one-click secure access to servers and clouds for all Google Chrome users.
Dome9 Security, which provides cloud security firewall management for public and private clouds as well as for dedicated and virtual private servers, released Instant Access for Google Chrome in response to the 30 million cloud and virtual private servers in use worldwide — most of which are vulnerable to attack due to their built-in security stacks being too difficult to manage.
Instant Access for Google Chrome alleviates this problem by providing a GUI-based firewall management service which is capable of managing an unlimited number of Windows and Linux servers in any virtual private, cloud, collocated and hosted environment. Getting secure, time-based access to a defined set of services and servers in any cloud, based on each users allowed cloud access rights, is as simple as clicking the Dome9 button on your Chrome browser with Instant Access for Google Chrome.
“Our new instant access app for Google Chrome makes it unbelievably easy to get secure access to any server, on-the-fly,” said Zohar Alon, Dome9 co-founder and CEO, on the subject of Instant Access for Google Chrome. “This new functionality marries security and simplicity to make any server virtually invisible to hackers, yet accessible when, for whom, and only as long as is needed.”
Setup of the browser-based app is as easy as pairing it with a Dome9 account using a unique API key available within every Dome9 account. Once this pairing is complete, Instant Access for Google Chrome allows users to select the servers, services and time period for default access, as well as get secure access to those services they are allowed to access.
Dome9 Security entered into the Cloud Tools Program with Rackspace (News - Alert) Hosting back in November of 2011.
