SMBs Choose FoIP for Cost Savings, Easy Management

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

As Voice over Internet Protocol continues to permeate the communications technology industry, more and more small business are adopting Fax over IP, or FoIP technology as a result of the migration.

Once the exclusive right of larger businesses, industry experts say they’re now seeing greater adoption of fax over IP in the small- and medium-sized business segment.

VoIP has become a primary method of choice for organizations to send voice, documents and data. And small and medium-sized business, or SMBs,are part of the mix. According to industry experts, the Fax over IP, or FoIP business among SMBs is strong and continues to grow.

One factor driving the popularity of fax over IP among SMBs is cost. A single IP network is less expensive for smaller firms to maintain over separate technologies that handle data or voice. What’s more, a single network makes it easier to integrate applications businesses need every day, such as fax, voice and data.

Another benefit is that SMBs can use their existing infrastructure, such as routers, cables and hubs, without having to buy additional equipment.

These are just some of the reasons companies like FaxCore, a Denver-based provider of fax server automation solutions for enterprise organizations, telecoms, SaaS (News - Alert) and specialized ASP providers, are seeing more activity in the SMB space.

The FaxCore platform has emerged as an ideal choice for companies looking to upgrade their faxing capabilities using the latest, state-of-the-art technology, according to company officials. It is the only FoIP solution built on the Microsoft .NET (News - Alert) Framework.

FaxCore makes fax server software for the 21st Century.  For example the company’s Mixed Mode Messaging lets users send documents and text messaging via fax, e-mail, SMS, http and FTP.
