Forget about Your Old Fax Machine, Try the Internet

By Ashley Caputo, TMCnet Web Editor

In an age where almost all work essentials can be integrated into a single mobile device, thanks to the BYOD (bring your own device) trend, outdated systems have been thrown in the dumpsters, and there has never been so much office space freed up. The next bulky appliance to go is the fax machine.

A fax machine is beneficial for any company sending important documents that need to be notarized or signed, but the actual machine itself is no longer needed, thanks to the Internet.

The convergence of communications with VoIP solutions provides companies with the latest UC technologies, helping increase the efficiency and quality of daily office operations. To help businesses better understand the value of Internet faxing, here are a few things you won’t miss about traditional fax machines.

Say good bye to paper jams. Everyone who works in an office knows how much of a nuisance it is when paper jams in a fax machine, or the constant need to refill the paper feed. With an Internet-based system, you won’t need paper or ink, just an online connection.

No more traffic by the fax machine. The actual dialing, calling and sending of a fax can be time consuming and cause quite a back-up near the machine. The Internet provides faster connection and reduces the chance of faxes being lost, as they are sent directly to a user’s computer or mobile device.

Easier accessibility.  Internet faxes can be accessed online, which means that companies can not only utilize this technology in the office, but also when they are traveling or working from home. All a user needs is Internet access to send or receive faxes, whether using a computer or mobile device.

Compatibility. Most Internet fax systems are compatible with common word processing programs, like Faxcore’s FoIP offering which is integrated for Microsoft (News - Alert) applications, so documents can be typed up normally and sent via fax. However, businesses don’t have to be on the same system, as Internet fax works with a traditional fax machine.

Inexpensive. Businesses that rely heavily on fax machines for operations can only imagine how much Internet faxing can reduce costs. Without a fax machine, companies won’t have to spend money on paper, ink, technical problems or purchasing a new system every few years.
