Fax Over IP

Generally speaking, customer premises equipment (CPE) fax over IP (FoIP) systems are made up of three components: a fax server application (like that offered by FaxCore), a physical server (tower or blade) and a Dialogic/Brooktrout (News - Alert) board or boardless (SR140) solution.

 

Service providers that offer hosted FoIP require a similar configuration, expanded to include multiple servers spread across locations to handle fax traffic volume and offer redundancy.

 

Most of today’s enterprises employing FoIP prefer a solution that provides a full suite of features, including:

--Integration with Exchange standard (2003, 2007) 
--Runs on Microsoft Server OS  
--Supports Dialogic (News - Alert)/Brooktrout solutions (2 channels standard) 
--SQL Server 2005 or SQL Express 
--Web Service / SOA SDK to integrate other in-house applications 
--SharePoint Server 2007 Native Integration 
--Support of Active Directory 
--Web UI - Internet Explorer 6.x and 7, Safari and Firefox 

Many FoIP server vendors offer some of the features listed above, but as the company’s Senior Vice President, Max Schroeder, pointed out, the comprehensiveness of FaxCore (News - Alert) features is unique.

 

“A little research will demonstrate that FaxCore is the only application that can deliver all of these features,” he told TMCnet.   

 

Schroeder also pointed out that many vendors still require customers to use a fat client for the Web interface or a connector for Exchange or SharePoint. Adding insult to injury, vendors charge extra for these features.

 

FaxCore, by contrast, delivers what Schroeder called “true 21^st Century fax technology” as part of its core product. Not only does FaxCore offer a comprehensive suite of FoIP features, the fact that these features are included in the basic server price make the package a truly “sweet suite.”

 

This “sweet suite” is included in CPE and hosted FoIP solutions from FaxCore.
