etherFAX Announces Support for Dialogic Brooktrout Fax over IP

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

As SMBs and enterprises slowly migrate all of their company’s information to the cloud, simple services are being transitioned to hosted solutions as well. Although forms of communications such as email and scanning may limit the necessity for services like faxing moving fax services to the cloud ensures the option is still available through advanced services like Fax over IP (FoIP).

etherFAX, LLC has recently announced that it now supports Dialogic (News - Alert) Brooktrout fax drivers. The fax drivers will allow third-party fax server solutions and applications to utilize etherFAX’s hosted telephony infrastructure to manage FoIP communications from the cloud.

While the concept is still in development, it is scheduled to be released in September. The etherFAX virtual adaptor will be fully compatible with RightFAX, FaxCore (News - Alert), FACSys, TargetFax, One Touch Integration Server and other leading solutions that support the Dialogic Brooktrout driver.

“Adding support for the Dialogic Brooktrout (News - Alert) drivers allows etherFAX to seamlessly support many of the leading fax applications with literally no modification whatsoever,” explained Robert Cichielo, Chief Technology Officer at etherFAX. “This integration strategy allows third-party solutions to direct fax traffic through the etherFAX network, significantly reducing the cost and complexity of maintaining telephony infrastructure.”

etherFAX offers an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) solution that extends existing fax server technology to the cloud. By eliminating the need for the expensive features of a fax server, fax board, and recurring telephony expenses, etherFAX’s technology uses the Internet to manage all business-critical fax communications, according to the company.

By supporting both Eicon and Dialogic Brooktrout drivers, etherFAX is compatible with almost all fax applications, giving enterprises the flexibility to leverage their existing technology investment. etherFAX enables fax servers to securely send and receive high volumes of faxes using the cloud instead of traditional PSTN infrastructure.  There are no locked in fees or contract periods, so customers only pay for the services they use.

“Extending support for Dialogic Brooktrout in addition to the Eicon fax driver allows us to keep pace with the overwhelming demand for the etherFAX service,” added Paul Banco, Chief Executive Officer at etherFAX. “Fax is widely embraced to transact business across many industries and we look forward to adding capabilities to make this communications method more convenient and cost-effective.”
