Sixnet, a provider of industrial and commercial M2M connectivity, has announced the design and release of new EL Din-rail industrial Ethernet managed switches for smart grid applications.
The new switches are part of the company's EL series of heavy industrial Ethernet managed switches and Sixnet (News - Alert) has claimed that it offers a full line of industrial Ethernet switches that connect to any Ethernet device and provide the reliability and important features users require.
Like all Sixnet's industrial Ethernet switches, the EL DIN-rail switches are designed to survive in the toughest industrial applications while providing real-time performance, fast network redundancy and advanced security.
These new EL DIN-rail are 8- and 12-port switches that combine flexibility, redundancy and ruggedness with enterprise-class networking capabilities to deliver reliable and secure communications for Smart Grid and power substation applications as well as traffic control, railway, maritime and other harsh environments.
The new switches come with a compact, hardened package that simplifies DIN mounting so that users can easily deploy them. It has many Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity options (8 + 4G) and supports several fiber optic and copper cabling types enabling port flexibility.
The switches are suited to any industry appliances as they are compliant with IEC61850 and IEEE1613 standards. Some of the features offered by the switches are: advanced security - stops unauthorized access; Superior redundancy - even under faulty environments networks can be run; High-performance networking - prioritizes handling of mission-critical data; and Powerful management and monitoring - easy deployment and fault isolation.
Maria Phillips, general manager of industrial connectivity at Sixnet has commented that their new EL DIN-rail switches, which offer the same software and full set of advanced features as their EL228 switching platform, provide industrial users with greater security and traffic management - even for edge deployments. This creates an intelligent communications platform that reliably supports Smart Grid operations to provide better service to the customer.
In related news Sixnet announced M2M Wireless gateways and router and powered highway tunnel projects throughout China.
