Amped Wireless Announces REC15A Wireless Extender

Amped Wireless is starting off the new year by announcing a new Wi-Fi Range Extender that is geared towards expanding both house and office coverage by a great deal. The company has actually announced a couple of new extenders since 2014 got rolling and CES (News - Alert) went into full swing. Early last week, the company announced a new entry in its AC1900 line. This other new extender is the REC15A High Power Compact 802.11ac Wi-Fi Range Extender.

This particular device has a wall-plug unit that is able to extend the range of any standard 802.11a/b/g/n. The device is able to extend the range of routers to a bedroom at the far end of the house, the backyard or a basement office. The company points out that most Wi-Fi routers have an output power of about 50 milliwatts (mW). The REC15A allows for the output power to be boosted up to about 500 milliwatts.

This extender stands out from the ever growing pack because it is able to extend the range of the router by as much as 5,000 square feet. That means that anyone using this extender no longer has to worry about losing coverage or speed simply because they went into another part of the house. Those who work in smaller office setup can also be rest assured that they will have the power that larger companies have.

"As more devices like tablets, smartphones, laptops and routers, supporting the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard become available, the need for faster, longer range Wi-Fi continues to grow," stated Jason Owen, CEO of Amped Wireless in a recent statement announcing the device. "With the introduction of the REC15A, Amped remains at the forefront of Wi-Fi extending solutions by offering another high performance, more affordable option for extending 802.11ac Wi-Fi coverage."

The REC15A is small enough that it might stand out among the crowd in range extenders it won’t stand out in your home. The device can be installed in an outlet and set up wirelessly using a tablet or laptop computer. Users simply need to plug it in, access the web menu and configure it to extend either a single or dual band network to extend.
