Whenever a new wireless standard is announced, those involved in the networking space tend to be pretty quick to bring out routers, extenders and other products based on that standard. In this case, it’s 802.11ac, which saw its final publication toward the end of 2013. Already, NETGEAR has rolled out its next-gen gigabit 802.11ac performance router, while Asus’ RT-AC68U claims to rival wired gigabit.

Now Amped Wireless has thrown its hat into the ring with its own family of next-generation, long-range AC1900 Wi-Fi products. At launch, this family features two products: the RTA30 High Power AC1900 Wi-Fi Router and the REA33 High Power AC1900 Wi-Fi Range Extender.

“We are very excited to announce the fastest and longest range Wi-Fi router and range extender we have ever developed,” said Jason Owen, CEO of Amped Wireless, in a statement. “Both feature the latest, high power Wi-Fi technology and are packed with high power parts to provide the best Wi-Fi experience ever offered. This means faster streaming, downloading and web browsing with all of your devices, throughout your entire home, backyard, or office.”

For optimal performance, the RTA30 router features eight Wi-Fi radios, four high-gain, dual-band antennas, and 16 high-power amplifiers. In terms of other features, the router includes a USB 3.0 port for files sharing and five gigabit wired ports for connecting to a broadband network and attaching additional devices.

The RTA30 also includes an updated user interface over prior Amped routers, as well as premium software features.

As for the REA33, it is a universal extender capable of extending the range of any 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi network simultaneously. Like the RTA30, it features eight Wi-Fi radios, four high-gain, dual-band antennas, and 16 high-power amplifiers, as well as USB 3.0, gigabit wired ports, and an enhanced user interface. The REA33 also includes a rich suite of security and advanced features.
