Transition Networks (News - Alert) Inc. recently announced the introduction of an integrated Carrier Ethernet 2.0 + software defined services (SDS) orchestration solution featuring CE 2.0 demarcation devices, access switches, and Converge EMS. The latest offering from Transition Networks will automate the complete service lifecycle, speed-up the rollout of MEF (News - Alert) CE 2.0 services, and will supplementing performance SLAs.

By using the integrated CE 2.0 solution, providers will enjoy simplified access to edge service turn-up and can make the necessary changes to their networks for delivering on-demand and differentiated service options for mobile backhaul, businesses, and cloud services.

Erin Dunne, Director of Research Services at Vertical Systems Group stated that, “Faster service turn up is a critical concern for carriers that is growing even more important as cloud computing and Carrier Ethernet 2.0 services become prevalent. An integrated approach with services delivery software and CE 2.0 hardware allows carriers to simplify the management of the service provider network services cost effectively.”

The Converge EMS platform which is MEF CE 2.0 standards-based has been designed as a fully integrated service and resource manager offering template-based automated provisioning solution for ensuring faster service activation and ROI. Built on the Amartus Chameleon SDS platform, Converge includes a RESTful API which supports integration with SDN and other 3rd party applications for delivering complete programmable networks. With a service-based design the solution cuts operational costs while providing greater support for advanced service delivery workflows.

Kevin Faulds, Director of Product Management at Transition Networks noted, “Transition Networks’ integrated CE 2.0 platform delivers unmatched value for service providers, enabling simplified deployment and robust centralized management. A single vendor solution from access to edge goes a long way toward making the management of the service provider network more simple and cost effective.”

The S4140 demarcation device from Transition Networks makes it easy for service providers to meet bandwidth demands for a number of services. S4212 and S4224, Transition Networks’ two new Carrier Ethernet switches help in aggregating traffic from demarcation devices which allows for seamless transport to the core network.

The company’s new products can be used by mobile backhaul providers to convert between Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE (News - Alert) 1588v2 synchronization methods without impacting clock accuracy. Furthermore, the products have been designed with service activation capabilities which help with circuit turn-up and maintenance while it’s linear and ring protection capabilities help in delivering sub-50 millisecond failover for greater service redundancy.
