The Ethernet Alliance, a global organization comprising of system and component vendors, industry experts and university and government professionals that strive towards development of Ethernet technology, has released the issues and topics that will be covered in its 2013 Technology Exploration Forum or ‘TEF 2013’ that will take place at the Network Meeting Center of TechMart in Silicon Valley on October 15th and 16th 2013.

During TEF 2013, a number of leaders, stakeholders and experts from Ethernet industry such as Robert (Bob) Metcalfe, Ethernet inventor, will gather to discuss the next level of Ethernet under ‘The Future of Ethernet”.

Entering its fifth year, Ethernet Alliances’ TEF 2013 will have Dell (News - Alert) and IEEE-SA as Platinum Sponsors and Hewlett Packard Co. as a Gold Sponsor. The organization had initiated the event with an aim to promote interaction and discourse among the global Ethernet industry so that various parts of the industry can discuss how cutting edge trends, opportunities and challenges have to be considered and handled by the enterprises.

People taking part in the TEF act as a primary technology advisory board for the Ethernet market, and has been receiving an encouraging response from the worldwide industry. As the Alliance notes, this year’s event has been scheduled for two days so that all the participants are able to leverage it for addressing and observing various matters that have been posing a challenge to the industry.

“Since its invention 40 years ago, Ethernet has become the very heart of networking, and continues to change the world around us. Market drive, innovation, and open standards have enabled the ongoing evolution and ubiquity of Ethernet today, and its penetration into the new markets and applications of tomorrow,” commented John D’Ambrosia, chairman, Ethernet Alliance (News - Alert) and chief Ethernet evangelist at Dell. “In order to continue Ethernet’s pioneering march, the industry must join together to drive its vision for the future. The Ethernet Alliance provides a forum for the open exchange of ideas and dialogue, and a platform for consensus building. The TEF is one of the best ways we fulfill that mission. We look forward to joining with industry visionaries and luminaries in the discussion that propels Ethernet into the future.”

In May 2012, The Ethernet Alliance announced it is demonstrating interoperability between 10G and 40G Ethernet technologies for data centers at the Interop (News - Alert), Las Vegas, Nevada, May 8-10. The interoperability gave Ethernet the ability to support cloud computing, convergence and virtualization in the data center.
