EB, or Elektrobit Corporation (News - Alert), has revealed that Finnish Defence Force's Army has selected company’s tactical communication systems after extensive field trials on their system. EB has been working with Finnish Defence since 2009, and this new project serves as the continuation of the pilot series to deliver EB's VoIP communication solutions to the force.

"As procurement this order is special because it's rarely possible to test the products beforehand so extensively in real operating conditions as we have been able to do in this case," said procurement engineer Hannu Pohjola from the Finnish Army Materiel Command Headquarters.

The first phase will involve the deliveries to the Finnish Army's long-term procurement program to support the new network-centric defense model, which enhances the ability for joint operations. The defense force will then use the EB Tough VoIP communication systems by the field and mechanized artillery as well as the Multiple Rocket Launchers Systems (MRLS).

EB recently launched the new Tough VoIP Field Phone (News - Alert) and Desktop Phone, designed with the intention of bringing broadband data connectivity to the battlefield, vehicles and command posts.

The officials at EB said that they develop these devices to keep up with their commitment to learn more and better understand the importance of communication devices for military use. EB has created a successful communications infrastructure filled with rugged VoIP devices and sturdy accessories that militaries crave. Both the Field Phone and Desktop phone include integrated speakers with Ethernet connectivity, as well as greater levels of voice and broadband services.

"The delivery is an important achievement in our goal to be the preferred partner in the area of tactical communications for the Finnish Defence Forces," said Mikko Viitaniemi, senior product manager responsible for EB Tough VoIP product family. "It also proves that our products are developed to meet the stringent defense sector requirements."

EB will deliver new generation EB Tough VoIP Field Phones to the Finnish Defence Forces. These trendy phones bring the broadband IP data connectivity and voice services to the field by utilizing conventional field wires.

In related news, Patton (News - Alert) Electronics, an esteemed provider of VoIP routers, gateways and Ethernet Extenders, recently revealed its revolutionary ‘futurized’ new generation line of IPv6-ready SmartNode SIP-trunking Media Gateways, which will help enterprises, SMBs and carrier-providers seamlessly transition to the next-generation of Internet connection, IPv6. This new series of VoIP media gateways will offer users unmatched scalability and survivability, as well as protect against obsolescence when IPv6 goes global. Boasting richer, more valuable features at a significantly lower cost, Patton’s new generation of SIP-trunking media gateways will prove very advantageous.
