Patton (News - Alert), a VoIP and Ethernet extension technologies specialist, has just expanded its CopperLink CL1314 series with the addition of ruggedized CL1314R and multi-drop CL1314MDE long-range Ethernet Extenders.
The new Ethernet extenders with multi-drop IP networking and long-distance Ethernet LAN capabilities link Ethernet LANs up to 4.26 miles apart in harsh environments. They leverage copper twisted pair that enables ubiquitous connectivity.
Launched in May 2012, Patton’s CopperLink CL1314 series targets serial-to-IP migration applications, converting copper-based RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422 data transmission circuits to Ethernet IP. The Ethernet extender family features simple plug-and-play installation with standard RJ45 connectors and does not require installing new Ethernet wiring.
The ruggedized and multi-drop Ethernet CL1314MDE transparently support TCP Modbus, Profinet IO, Bacnet and Canopen, the company said. Other higher-layer protocols including VLAN tagging, multicast addressing, VPN with IPsec, plus IP-video compression schemes pass transparently.
As Patton's CL1314 series of Ethernet extenders leverages common copper wire network cabling, they can be used in a variety of applications such as railways, highways, campus or stadium security systems, industrial automation, SCADA, and device networks. They can interconnect IP-enabled devices up to 4.26 miles (6.9 kilometers) apart. The CL1314 extenders deliver speeds up to 5.7 Mbps and extend Ethernet connections across distances ranging from 1.7 to 4.26 miles (2.74 to 6.9 km) without the expense or hassle of installing CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 Ethernet LAN cable. They operate over standard 0.5 mm (24 AWG) voice-grade wiring. The CL1314MDE provides four auto-sensing full/half duplex 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports presented on RJ45 connectors while the CL1314R provides two. Featuring sturdy aluminum enclosure, they can withstand operating temperatures ranging from -40 to 85° C. and offers a metal 35mm DIN-rail clip.
Patton recently also launched its new Redirection Service for SmartNode VoIP products. In another significant announcement recently, the company released its BODi rS portable wireless Internet router for high-speed wireless WAN-access, seamless multi-network roaming, bonding and failover.
