B&B Adds PoE and Network Management Capabilities to Ethernet Extenders

B&B Electronics Manufacturing, a provider of industrial Ethernet solutions, announced the addition of ‘Power over Ethernet Plus’ (PoE+) and network management capabilities to its industrial grade Elinx Ethernet Extenders. The new PoE+ capabilities are available in three 10/100Mbit/s models that extend Ethernet connections up to 1900m and power remote devices directly, company officials said.

The solution benefits IT and network engineers as they can monitor remote communications via web browser and SNMP, so they can avoid monitoring visits to remote locations. Each of these solutions offers flexible redundant wide voltage inputs 24 to 48Vdc, via terminal block, or extender port via RJ11 or terminal block.

B&B Ethernet extenders find applications in industries like industrial and building automation, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), traffic control, point-of-sale, CCTV to IP, surveillance/security and warehousing. The company also offers unmanaged line of Ethernet extenders featuring long-range SHDSL solutions for 10/100 networks, EIDM-EXTEND-2, which are capable of extending Ethernet connections up to 6,250 meters. Some of the other models extend Ethernet connections up to 2,600 meters via coaxial cable, or up to 1,900 meters over a pair of unused straight copper wires. The PoE+ models support the 802.3at PoE+ standard.

Elinx Ethernet Extenders run Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multipoint, require two extenders (one at each of the extension points), and operate over a wide temperature range (-40 to 75 degree C).B&B Ethernet extenders meet leading industry standards, including heavy industrial 61000-6-2 EMC (News - Alert) standards, UL508, and NEMA TS1/TS2 environmental requirements for traffic control equipment.

Many models are also shock, vibration and freefall tested.According to the latest Infonetics Research report, Cisco (News - Alert) leads the global Ethernet switch market over competitors like HP and Juniper Networks (News - Alert), two other popular vendors that have seen revenue increase in the Ethernet switch market last quarter.Cisco not only leads the carrier Ethernet switch market, but is seeing its revenue climb year after year for its networking equipment for virtualization, the report said.
