TE Connectivity Showcases CeeLok FAS-T Ethernet Extender at Farnborough International AirshowTMCnet Contributor
TE Connectivity, a provider of Ethernet and telecom connectivity solutions, is showcasing its latest Ethernet extender at the Farnborough International Airshow display. The new CeeLok FAS-T connector system is the most rugged small form factor, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, field terminable I/O connector in the Aerospace, Defense and Marine marketplace, according to company officials. It also delivers faster connectivity compared to the traditional network solutions that typically use one-gigabit Ethernet. The Ethernet extender is designed to comply with the 10-gigabit Ethernet protocol, which according to TE Connectivity (News - Alert), has emerged as the solution of choice in next-generation networks. CeeLok FAS-T is also compatible with Cat5e, Cat6a and other protocols such as 90-Ohm USB2.0 to 110-Ohm IEE FireWire. The solution is available in both cable-applied and printed circuit board varieties. The Ethernet extender provides a means of transmitting high speed signals from the printed circuit board to system peripherals without sacrificing speed, panel space, or environmental performance. The product is compact and lightweight. The rugged design enables it to withstand harsh environments and minimize crosstalk, while enhancing noise cancellation. The shell size of the CeeLok connector is just 0.75 inch, and the connector uses a 0.698-inch-diameter panel cutout. Noise canceling and decoupling to minimize crosstalk is enabled by the unique T-shaped pin pattern. The company has also launched new solutions to complement CeeLok FAS-T connectors. They include solutions like band straps, termination devices, molded boots, wire and cable and complete harnessing capabilities. The new small format, field terminable connector empowers a wide cross-section of industry applications from in-flight applications for both commercial and military platforms, as well as ground-based and marine-based needs, according to officials from the company. In another similar announcement, Aaxeon Technologies just released a new R-232 serial to Ethernet extender that transfers data between devices that are as far apart as 0.75 miles over CAT-5 cabling. The device, called the SED-1010S, is easy to deploy within any company’s current infrastructure.
