Occam Networks Inc., a leading supplier of Ethernet
and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies, has signed an agreement with GTA (News - Alert) TeleGuam, Guam's leading telcom provider, to supply equipments for upgrading its network.
Guam is a U.S. territory and the largest of the Marianas Islands, located in the western Pacific Ocean. GTA TeleGuam offers local, long distance, mobile phone service and broadband services.
"GTA TeleGuam's technology direction fits perfectly with our line of BLC solutions," said Nathan Harrell, Occam's vice president of worldwide sales.
As per the deal, GTA TeleGuam has purchased Occam's Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) 6252 ADSL2Plus and POTS Blade, the BLC 6640 Subscriber Trunk Gateway (News - Alert) for GR303 signaling; the BLC 6312 Optical Line Termination Blade and the BLC 6450 Access Aggregation Blade for 10Gigabit Ethernet rings.
"The GTA team conducted an in-depth and comprehensive evaluation of the leading access equipment providers and selected Occam based on product features, experience and company reputation," said Dan Moffat, GTA TeleGuam's CEO.
Dan Moffat also mentioned, "As an example, for our upcoming IPTV
offering, Occam's implementation of Nitro and ADSL2Plus bonding provided advantages over competitive systems we evaluated. In addition, Occam's support for the Dr. DSL
line testing suite will enable us to qualify lines for video as well as test each line automatically on a daily basis."
Occam will initially upgrade 10,000 access lines of GTA TeleGuam whose access lines totals to 70,000 numbers.
"We wanted an all IP
network including 10Gigabit Ethernet rings and it was clear Occam could deliver this today," said Nelson Tanaka, GTA TeleGuam's Chief Operating Officer.
