In the current economy, most enterprises and SMBs are actively looking for ways to consolidate their resources and minimize their operational expenses. To achieve this goal, a growing number of companies have begun adopting VoIP-based solutions that allow them to run a range of communications applications through a single platform.

eOn Communications (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of business communications products and services, recently introduced a new solution designed to offer companies of nearly any size the ability to unify their communication mediums.

The solution, known as eConn IP-PBX, can support businesses that have anywhere from 10 to 1,000 employees. It provides companies with teleworking functionality, automated call distribution, conferencing and collaboration capabilities, voice messaging services and wireless connectivity – all in one solution. The system, which incorporates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and Linux CentOS, can be operated across virtually any LAN/WAN infrastructure.

The eConn IP-PBX (News - Alert) supports hundreds of telephony features and a number of desktop devices, including entry-level IP phones, executive-style IP phones, wireless handsets (WiFi or IP DECT (News - Alert)) and full-duplex audio conference units. When the solution is paired with the company's established IP Messenger platform, it can support all unified communications, presence management and call handling applications. The eConn IP-PBX also sports built-in support for automatic call distribution and IP networking functionality across multiple sites.

Company officials note that the solution can offer businesses a number of benefits, including the ability to increase employee productivity and customer satisfaction, reduce capital expenditures and operating costs as provide mobile employees with a greater number of communication options.

"Enterprises are looking at new ways to increase business revenues while reducing the cost of their communications solutions," said Robert Schnabl, COO of eOn.

"It is this demand that led us to develop the eConn IP-PBX to provide businesses with features and flexible configurations that make communicating with customers and colleagues easier and less expensive, no matter whether they are located in a corporate HQ, a branch office or remote location half way around the world," he added.

The next generation communications platform was launched on September 30 and is currently available for purchase. For more information on the solution, click here.
