Tadiran Helps Enterprises Do UC Whatever Way They Want

Flexibility is important when it comes to unified communications (UC).

At least, that’s where Tadiran (News - Alert) Telecom thinks the industry needs to move. The company, which has been providing telecom solutions for more than 50 years, has developed its Aeonix UC and collaboration platform to enable businesses to have the maximum flexibility when it comes to UC deployment.

The Aeonix platform is built on an open-ended architecture that enables firms to scale to meet current and future needs, and it supports standard protocols such as SIP, CSTA and web services.

Earlier this year Tadiran announced its cloud initiative, which also helps enterprises choose among on-premise, cloud or hybrid deployments. One early partner in the initiative has been Amazon and its AWS service.

“The unique thing about Aeonix is that it can work not only on-premise, but you can also deploy an instance of that up in the cloud like Amazon AWS,” Lindsay Kintner, VP of engineering and field support for Tadiran, told TMCnet during a recent interview at ITEXPO (News - Alert) Las Vegas. “That allows a company to not only have control of their on-prem functionality, but deploy the same thing in a cloud environment for either failover or for reduced cost as far as dedicated data circuits.”

A company might use Aeonix through Amazon’s AWS to connect with China for $500 a month instead of having to shell out $5,000 for an MPLS circuit there. In the process, the company also has gained an instance of their communications servers up in the cloud for faster disaster recovery.

“It is a hybrid approach,” noted Kintner. “It allows enterprises to do exactly what they want to do. If they want to do the complete hybrid approach, they can deploy it there. If they want to do on-prem, they can do that as well.”

This flexibility means that companies aren’t limited to choosing either an on-premise solution or a cloud solution, and also that they can pick whatever cloud provider they want for their deployment.

“What’s nice is that unlike other manufacturers who say you can only deploy it in my cloud environment, with us, since we virtualized it, you can deploy it either in Amazon EWS, Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure, even IBM if you want to,” Kintner told us during ITEXPO.

With UC technology and the needs of business changing almost every day, flexibility can be a good thing.
