New Zealand is so far away from every other land mass, it was one of the last places to be settled by humans. But the more than 4.5 million people that live on that island nation now have the same technological need as everyone else. The first world class cloud service of its kind is being deployed in the country by SAP (News - Alert) with its SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud (HEC) to streamline the IT needs of businesses and government in New Zealand.

The HEC is an in-memory scalable data platform that offers multiple forms of deployment to modernize IT and help organizations accelerate their pace of innovation. It can be deployed as an on-premises appliance or hybrid cloud, allowing businesses to monetize their services and public entities to improve their IT infrastructure.

Government IT infrastructures with mission critical operations can deploy HEC without tradeoffs on performance, integration, security, failover or disaster recovery.

Private organizations and commercial entities are able to achieve the fastest time to value for all of their SAP HANA implementation with HEC. The platform is available for SAP Business Suite and SAP BW powered by SAP HANA as well as custom SAP HANA platform solutions.

The Open APIs and hundreds of predefined integration adapters support a multitude of options, configurations and a host of scenarios, such as on premise to cloud, cloud to cloud, and cloud to third party to extend any system with innovative technologies.

The availability of HANA also eases the concerns of many organizations in New Zealand that want to deploy cloud services, but don't want to use offshore data hosting.

The service in New Zealand is being offered in partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), an SAP Premium Supplier. The infrastructure for integration of compute, storage and networking resources was designed by HPE using its software, and it will also be managed by HPE's Critical Watch Centre.
