AudioCodes, Inc. is showing off its new 420HD IP Phone this week at ITEXPO (News - Alert) West in Austin, Texas.

This is the first phone AudioCodes has developed that is designed around Microsoft Lync, according to Alan Percy, AudioCodes’ (News - Alert) director of market development. The phone is designed from the ground up for unified communications applications, so it displays presence and manages presence from the phone screen, as opposed to requiring the user to get that information from a PC.

The phone, which came out a couple months ago and retails for around $200, is HD capable, including integrated network management and applying AudioCodes (News - Alert) DSP technology, which Percy says allows the company to do “creative things” with the voice compression and speakerphone to deliver a high quality of voice.

And because the phone has a lot of feature functionality, AudioCodes owns a lot of the intellectual property around the phone. The device is not “over distributed,” he added, so resellers are actually in the position to make money on this device.

In other recent news from AudioCodes, the company last month announced that its 300HD and 400HD IP Phone (News - Alert) products are being tested for compatibility with Lync, its enterprise session border controller has been certified by contact center outfit Genesys for use with Genesys SIP Server 8.x, and ShoreTel (News - Alert) has validated AudioCodes’ E-SBC for SIP trunking.

Percy says that the fact that AudioCodes now provides E-SBCs, phones, media gateways, residential gateways, multi-service business gateways, mobile VoIP clients, media services and value-added applications attests to the fact that the company is now able to deliver holistic solutions via “one-handshake” types of relationships with its customers.

AudioCodes today is seeing the greatest growth in the areas of professional services, like network assessment, network management software, and for its call recording logging software, which the company is showing this week in the Lync Solutions Pavilion at ITEXPO.
